Gnome Font Sizes

Post date: Dec 22, 2008 1:26:37 AM

I just tried to change the font sizes that Gnome uses for its desktop font and application fonts.

I just updated my OS from Fedora 9 to Fedora 10.

My 1st attempt was to use

Fedora Gnome Menu

Fedora-->System-->Preferences-->Look And Feel-->Appearances

menu Item.

For some reason (I am trying to find out ) gnome policy kit is throwing an error and this application will not run >:(

I found a work around... run gconftool-2 from the commandline

Fonconfig workaround

gconftool-2 –set /apps/nautilus/preferences/desktop_font –type string “DejaVu Sans 9″

gconftool-2 –set /desktop/gnome/interface/document_font_name –type string “DejaVu Sans 9″

gconftool-2 –set /desktop/gnome/interface/font_name –type string “DejaVu Sans 9″

gconftool-2 –set /apps/metacity/general/titlebar_font –type string “"DejaVu Sans 9″

gconftool-2 –set /desktop/gnome/interface/monospace_font_name –type string “"DejaVu Sans Mono 8″
